Alaska Vacation

I'm back from about 3 weeks spent on vacation. It started with taking Air Canada to Vancouver, Canada. (loved being called Maadame with slight French accent). They let you reserve an aisle seat for free if medical reason. Once in the airport, you figuratively walk for miles. First line is for passport/picture taking kiosk. Then walk some more to turn in the receipt. Wait, there's more walking  to claim your luggage. It was not difficult to get my 10,000 steps on this trip.

Joined up with my friends at the hotel. The next morning a little exploring and took advantage of the Hop On Hop Off transport around the city. You can get on and off multiple times for one price. A great start on vacation.

Sunday was embarkation day on the Norwegian Jewel. Lines for dropping off luggage, Canadian customs, American customs, and finally to get on ship. It's a well practiced oiled machine a bit overwhelming for first time cruiser.

The itinerary included stops at 3 Alaskan cities with planned excursions at each stop. It also included 2 times at sea to observe glaciers. To say the landscape is beautiful is an understatement. Never used the pool as the air temperature  was too cold. So much for new bathing suits. Never used the dresses either.

Disembarkation is at Seward, AK. Meet with friends, picnic for lunch, and hiked around Exit Glacier. Later took the train to Anchorage. The views are wonderful and the dining car meals were excellent.

Back from Phoenix. Wedding was beautiful. Reconnected with girlfriend's grandkids. Actually went in the pool. Visited a great pumpkin display done in mini scene style. Did Halloween with one set of her grandkids and got called grandma by some homeowners (I'm "Aunt") Last day it was a visit to Rawhide but it was closed (Nothing on website, so if you go, talk to real person first). Then spent the day at Aquarium before catching the red eye. Didn't really sleep and we got in nearly 45 minutes early (poor DH hadn't even left house yet). Came home, picked up held mail, small snack, and crash. Tomorrow is 4AM wake up for working the polls. It's a governor race here in NJ. I'm so tired, and have plans for whole weekend.

Drafted not posted from August. Geez!

Now currently in Phoenix for wedding and, as a bonus, a stitching class. So communication may be limited. So far. Fly first class using points. Lovely. Helped with boxing cookies for bride's goody bags. Lots of meeting up with old friends and meeting new. Many of us have joined the gray hair club. Bit jet lagged and still keeping schedule of waking early, which is way too early now. Gone to rehearsal, rehearsal BBQ (yummy),today Sunday is the wedding. The groom was my ring bearer 25 years ago!! Basically I just go where told and hope there's a body count to not be left behind. LOL
After wedding etc plan to hit all the local needlework shops and play tourist at museums etc.

The dilemma:was waffling about going to White Collar event in NYC.
Entered their contest and won a ticket. Now obligated to go, decision made.
Apparently it can include a companion ticket, anyone available?

Excited to attend Book Con tomorrow and attend Matt Bomer's panel. The autograph session is limited to 100 with no pre sign-up, so have little hope of being one of the favored few.
But this will be my first time seeing him in person.
